I find it crazy that there has always been a unspoken rule that people should court with their own race and ethnicity. I am not ashamed to be open to a male of any race. I am African American but a lot of our males are locked up in jail, not educated, broke, baby daddy’s and not ambitious. It is so hard to find a well rounded black man with none of the above stereotypes. I am upset because once a black man is locked up his whole life is ruined. It can be a small charge yet just because he was arrested he will always be looked at as committing a felony. His reputation is ruined. It’s hard to get people to trust him or even hire him. If there are so many black men getting locked up in jail for “hustling” and “drug dealing” then the black communities will soon be full of lesbians etc. I’ve seen black men that are only interested in Asians and White woman. This may be upsetting to individuals to know that the few black men left are not with black woman. However, if our society promoted the black man we would even be having this discussion. At a early age black males should be encouraged to have steady jobs, take sex education classes, go to family counseling, participate in activities to keep them off the streets and out of the bedroom. I would not want my future son to be caught up in drugs or teen pregnancy or even end up in jail. Hopefully he will have a father no matter what race that will be around to see him off to school, help him become a man, and show him that there is another alternative to life not everyone ends up locked up and jobless.
